I am looking at getting a printer, scanner, photocopier and cd printer all in one as i really want to start making good backup's of my dvds (with boxes and the image on the dvd etc..) however i have been told that i would need to buy special blank dvd to be able to print onto the CD. Does anyone know where i can get any or if it will work on a normal dvdr? i dont want to spend all this money on a printer then find i have to buy realyl expensive dvr any help really really apprciated.
P.s any names of places to get them from would be good too.

I use a good disc labeller programme. Most starter packs with disc labeller progs include software to print CD labels using any Inkjet printer and it includes a gadget to centre the label directly onto the disc. The only advantage of a CD labeller included with the printer would be not having to buy blank labels but I've not heard of any feedback on using such a programme. A good site for downloading box and CD covers for you to print is here: http://www.cdcovers.cc/dvd_0.php

are you talking about sticky labels that you print on and then press onto the CD? are they good do they not peel off the CD?
the printer i was looking at actually ink jet printed onto the cd direct, hence that why i was told special blank disc's would be needed as they have a special coating or something?? but i just want to know if anyone has tried to print on a normal blank disc?

Sometimes its no more expensive, it depends on a number of factors, mainly the dye and manufacturer

I havent found it much dearer at all actually! And when bought from the net it would equal the price of a dvd-r you would buy in your local store!

Actually, i tend to disagree. If i went to my local store, it would cost me £4.99 to £7.99 for a Philips or Verbatim DVD R. You can get the same DVD's on the web for £2

Read my post again, i think u misunderstood! What i meant was, when u bought a dvd from the web that was printable, it would be about the price of a normal dvd-r at your store! but then again i suppose it depends where u live! as for one, ireland is too fucken dear!

The only problem is that nobody has any in stock (the Riteks anyhow) I ordered 25 from DVD and media.com on Saturday and received an email today saying that they didnt have any and did I want some printable Maxells. Does anyone know who manufacture for Maxell or their dye quality? I tried some Verbatim printables and ended up with 4 coasters out of 5 discs.
