if you read the small print you will notice it says "*HDMI cable not included. Additional equipment may be required to use the HDMI connector."

you have to click "what is HDMI" to see that, and this is the US site so it may vary across the board, but i doubt it.

They probably assume that majority of gamers who get the $599 PS3 will be playing on a non-HDTV or non-HDMI display.

The HDMI cable will likely be sold as an accessory. Maybe something like this:

No big deal i can get Monster HDMI hookups here at my PT-job for half off.Also Sony never have the best hookups to come inside the box just away to keep cost down.
