Last week I bought 2 25 packs of DVD+Rs and DVD-Rs at our local Office Depot. The DVD+Rs are CMC MAG M01 and they are already back in the bag to be returned. The DVD-Rs are PRODISC F02 and gold in color. Up to now, I've been able to get either Sony or Fuji Discs that were MIJ but no more. I spent all afternoon hitting every store looking for "MIJ" and found not one... Since they are used for System Backups so we can't take chances with cheap crap. Are these gold DVD-Rs (PRODISC F02) any good? Also while in Office Depot I noticed that they have "Office Depot" labeled discs. Are they any good? How about the DLs?
Thanks!!!!

Yep, just as he said, get Verbatim (or Taiyo-Yuden Premium from supermediastore.com if you don't havea BB ner you.)
-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.

Office Depot disks are Ritek disks, fairly good, I've used them for a while and they give good scores,(not as good as the verbs or the TY's, but play decently.) Using a Sony DRU-800A burner I get between 95-98% quality scores.
Final verdict, buy them if you can't find TY or Verbatim.

Thanks for the info... I'll take all of them back to Office Depot. Does anyone know who makes Office Depot's DL discs? No one has DLs on sale.

I don't know who makes OD DL, but I'd steer clear. Verbatims are absolutely the best - no question. They're a bit more money, but well worth it. I'd shy away from Dynex too.
Shop around and check the sale papers for Verbatim DVD+R DL. You can find Sony (MIJ) usually at Sam's and Verbatim DVD can be found all around. Stay with the good stuff.
cheers!
Edit: I almost forgot - Don't get ANY Memorex media. Pure junk.

As BliventNC pointed out, OD is Ritek, except their 4x offerings could be Ricohjpn, which is good stuff. Most "brand names" as well as "store brand" are less-than-first-class media. At least OD is consistent in using Ritek (and Ricohjpn). But why bother when first-class media (Verbatim, Made-in-Japan stuff) is so inexpensive, and often even cheaper?

Hi all... I just got back from returning the crappy discs to Office Depot. No problems with returning them. Guess they heard they were bad media already. I stopped and bought the last four 25-packs of Verbatim DVD-Rs at Best Buy. They are MCC 03RG20. These good?

@SysAdPgh,
Amen to what blivetNC says. MCC is one of the best, along with TY. Just remember to not confuse MCC with CMC. Happy burning!
