Hi,

I've been thinking about buying an HDTV. But I need some help. What does the tv need to have for me to be able to play my xbox360 with HD graphics? Does it need to have an HDMI, or is it enough that it has the components Y/Pb/Pr)?? I've been thinking about purchasing this tv 'Samsung LE-23T51B 23" LCD-TV'.

So what exactly is the minimum requirment for a tv to be compatible with xbox 360? is 'Samsung LE-23T51B 23" LCD-TV' tv enough for me to play with xbox360 on it or do i definetely need an HDMI?

Thanks,

Stevie

most store displays are set up w/ components, the Y/Pb/Pr....atleast the ones where MS provided the monitors. so that would be the 'minimum' requirement i suppose, are you going for LCD HDTV? Plasma HDTV, Tube HDTV? u don't need HDMI, but if u found one that had both, it be better since it might become a popular connection style in the future.

Hi,

There's no HDMI on the xbox (not yet, maybe) there's the RGB (red-green-blue, or component cables) which will give you HD picture.

As long as the TV suppports 720p you're good, even tho if it supports 1080i you're better off. (some people think 720p looks better, i beg to differ :-D)

Samsungs are very good lcds, i used to sell em at SEARS, i'd dare to say they where the best, longer lasting HDTV
s we sold.

Hope this helps you !

Thank you Smurff for the quick reply,

I've mostly been looking to buy an LCD HDTV, since I've been under the impression that it has the best picture quality.

LCD's really good quality, but there's a better one which is the DLPs, which by the way, Samsung have on some of their sets.

More expensive tho.

And thank you neo_pr for ensuring me that Samsung is the right choice.
One more question. Here in Finland, a 23' Samsung (without HDMI) costs 700 ?, while the 26' Samsung (with HDMI) costs 900 ?.

Which one would you get?

And is the 23' big enough?

hi,

my sugestions is for teh price of a samsung 23 incher you can probabaly get a lesser-known brand 32 incher!

it's true, samsung is already selling their brand like sony, philips... (charge 500 for a brand)

and some are even made straght in the same factory and sperates at a fork
my prodcution line example:
.......................(fork)........(Other brand line)
--------------------------=================================
(being built)..............................(Sony Line)

That's true BurningAs, but he could be unlucky like me and have an LCD HDTV that breaks in 1 year and warranty it's no good.

You know what they say, if warranty it's up in one year, IT will get broken on the 366th day after purchase.

Hi,

I did look at some cheap LCD HDTV's at first but I just don't want to spend my money on something I'm not sure about. Like the Mirai 26'' for 550 ?...

And besides that, the quality of the picture is so good on samsung compared to the cheap LCD HDTV's picture, what I saw in the stores.

So it's pretty obvious to me which tv i should buy. And as neo_pr said, I don't want this tv for only a year, because that's probably when a Mirai would break, I'm thinking 4-5 years atleast.

At least from my experience working at SEARS, samsungs will do 5-7 years depending on use, of course.

Sounds like it's not too long but Sonys don't do more than 3-4, so either Samsungs or Toshibas are the best, IN MY OPINION. And Sylvanias (tho ppl love the fact they're 1/3 of other brand names) wont even do 2 years.

So remember, when the salesman tries to sell you a better one, it's not ALWAYS a bad idea (i used to hate ppl buying them, since they would either come back mad at me, or never came back.)
