I am currently modding my V5 PS2 with a DUO 2 chip. As I was looking at my solder points, I accidently ripped off the wire to point I.

Well the wire also took off the square metal mount, so now there is nothing to solder on. Is there any way I can fix this?

Edit: Also, it is really hard for me to get to the solder point because the motherboard is connected to the mount underneath. Is there any way to easily take it off?

you are pretty screwed. The only chance you may have of getting it to work is to scrape off the green stuff that's on top of the trace where the square pad was connected to and try to solder the wire to that if you manage to do that make sure you tape that wire down with electrical tape so there isn't any movement which could cause more damage like ripping the trace off. Of course this is all assuming that pad only connectsto that one trace which I don't see it connecting to anything else.

NTSC DNAS threads.

If I remove the modchip, will the PS2 work fine or will that solder point still screw things up?

If the point where you were soldering to had nothing else connected after it, your ps2 will work fine, if there was another connection, and you can see that two traces under the green coating are nwo seperated because of the damaged trace, it might now work.

You can scrape off the enamel by using an exacto knife or a razor blade. Becareful not to cut the trace.

Also, I wouldn't use electrical tape. When playing the PS2 it tends to heat up which could cause the tape to become unsecured. I use a mini hot glue gun on all my installs.

If you have damaged the pad that "I" went to, you could follow the trace to another point and solder to that. Using a little bit of flux will help in the solder flow making a solid connection.

I hope that helps!

Best Regards,

Stabby
