ConvertXtoDVD hands down Nero is just to slow also CovertXtoDVD does a great job of keeping audio in sync.

I love the way convertctodvd syncs my audio with video. With Nero 7 at least one third of the time the audio was out of sync. I only miss one thing about Nero and that is the templates for setting nice display backgrounds. Convertx2dvd just lists the titles in text on a plain screen on my tv.. I guess small price to pay...

Trick question?
Correct me if I'm wrong but convertX can't burn AVI files to DVD. It converts them first.

ConvertxtoDVD is libavcodec/format based which is good in the way like VLC it is self contained. Also like VLC means that there are some things it doesn't support like RV30/40. Nero being dshow based if you have rmvb files, you just need to install the correct dshow filter and it should support them. Not sure that it is possible to put RV30/40 in an AVI container anyway, but that doesn't change the fact that if libavcodec can't decode it then convertx wouldn't be able to convert it.

Not sure if VSO is using their own encoder or libavcodec for MPEG-2/AC3 encoding. libavcodec's MPEG-2 encoder is fine, but the AC3 encoder isn't the best.

I've been using Nero 6.6, and although it's a resource hog. One thing I particularly like about Nero is that it will ask you if you want to convert PAL to NTSC or vice-versa, depending on your preference settings. Question... Does ConvertXtoDVD convert PAL to NTSC???
