Hi!
I'm going to buy a chipped ps2 soon and I've got theese chips to choose from: H2O, Modbo 760 (same price as H2O, but I get an extra controller), DMS4 S.E. Lite (a little more expensive) and Ghost 2 lite (same price as DMS).

I did some research and found that everyone liked DMS, but if you look at the specs for each chip it's basically the same, with some minor differences. So what makes DMS worth the extra dough?

DMS is for people who want to use hombrew applications. it is one of the best mod chip. however, i personally like the matirx infinity green dot. ive installed like 4 of them and they are easy to install. also, you can like make it so that all games come out in NTSC format. are you planing on chipping it yourself or get it done by someone else? cus i thought matrix was pretty easy to install, and am an amature installer. the 4 matrix i installed were the first 4 mod chips ive ever tried to install

I'm having someone else install the chip, so that doesn't really matter. What kind of homebrew apps can you get? I'm not interessed in mp3 or DivX or online gaming or anything fancy, I just want to be able to play downloaded games and that's it.

the cheapest chip would be like mars 2, it isnt bad just to play ps2 dvd and cd and dvds, you have to turn on the ps2 a certain way

Since I will buy it pre-modded, I have only those four chips to choose from. Right now I'm leaning towards the H2O chip. Together with the Modbo 760 it's the cheapest, and with the Modbo I get cheap samapex controllers whereas I get an origrinal with H2O.
