I recently did a vhs transfer from my vcr to my stand-alone DVDR deck....The volume on the original copy was fine, just like the vhs. However, when I re-edited the dvd on my pc and made menus, chapters, etc., the burned copy's volume is very low, although it reads as Dolby Digital on my a/v setup.

Is there a way to fix the copy without having to re-burn the project ?

Thanks :)

Gary...I don't know that doing it over again would help increase the gain, which is what you need to do. Increasing the gain has been a rather complicated multi-step process. However, Pegasys Software/TMPGEnc recently released Xpress 4.0 which claims to increase volume with one of its filters. I have yet to try it, but it is on my list of things to do. You could email their tech support and confirm it will do what you want. http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/te4xp_feature.html

Thanks for the info...

Actually when you do the project in Nero (that's what I used), you can increase the volume level in "Properties" for each title in the storyboard section. However, I had already burned the project and deleted it from my hard drive because it takes up space.

I redid the project and increased the volume, but I burned it as a DVD+VR disc, and for some reason it doesnt play in my dvd player.....is there a way to fix this ?

I've never converted a DVD-VR disc, but I am thinking that if you ran it through DVD Decrypter, it would convert it to DVD-R format, so that you could burn it with Nero. If not, run it through Nero to convert back to the MPEG 2 file, and then convert it to the VOB files from there.
