hi everyone

I am having problems backing up Grand Theft Auto Vice City. i backed up the install cd perfectly. But i am having a problem with the play cd. according to both clonyXXl 2.0.1.4c and 2.0.0.6 the play cd is not protected by anything or its an unknown protection but after the 2.0.1.4c searches the install folder it detects securerom*new* v4.x. Both versions however detect that the install cd is protected by securerom*new* v4.x. i was able to back the install cd with Alcohol120% with settings to securerom*new* (not securerom*new*v4.x) and it itworked but nothing worked for the play cd. i tried securerom*new* and securerom*new* v4.x. Also its not possible for clone cd to burn securerom*new*v4.x. it showed a messegae that said that and it also showed 10 skulls which means impossible i did get the image to work perfectly of the play cd but i cant make a backup cd. any help

by the way how are you making BWA files? i only see BWT with BlindWrite.
I think i will need those files but it would be better if i can learn how to make them myself.

Thanx

hi

ok, you will need to extract SUBCODES! and NOT authorise the use of alternative read method! for sercurom!

if safe disc then its the other setting!

ok, dump the image! to any folder! then you will need a BWA file which is a file generated by the BWA builder! extra program to blindwrite!

usally the bwa builder makes crap files to add in to the folder where you dumped the image, so we all download them! hence where mine came from!

so in afffect you dump the image which will create 3 files!

BWI
BWS
BWT

then you add to folder

BWA !!!!

then burn!

ok now you can use autoplay or not you must tick it so all cdroms can read the copies! if you dont tick it! then it can only be read from cdrom/dvd drives and NOT! cd-rw!

Hope that helps?

any help on this just write here!

Cheers....

EDIT:

AUTOPLAY is an emulation - as long as blindwrite program is loaded they will play!

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

hi

the BWA builder is part of blindwrite! now when burning the disc it should ask you if you want to make a BWA after image dump!

but if not its in the start menu! under blindwrite link!

and its called:

PHYSICAL CD CHARACTERISTIC DUMPER!

do you know what a good file should look like? if not have a look at a few! then you will know if yours is good!

also i think you can rebuild these bad peaks in the file with twinpeaks program...

only some cdrom/cdrw drives make good files of BWA! my liteon/plextor/samsung DO NOT! i get mega big peaks!

but the liteon is an excellant burner otherwise!

if you want the files to look at what you need to achive please pm me!

let me know if your backup works?

thx.......

Write mode= DAO pw m8. Label 1 disc "install disc" and backup the SecuROM 4.8.x protected cd (no bwa file in folder) then label another cd "play disc" (bwa file in image folder). Burn 8x and you're good to go. Install the original cd's first then try and play the backup(s) from any rom.

Hi there good buddy Rotary! Autoplay support is needed for backing up Safedisc 2.9 and "some" Safedisc 2.8 pc game titles (pre-gap). Certain dvd\cd-roms have the ability to bypass the Twinsector cd scheme of the SecuROM 4.8.x protected cd and can actually play the backup (install disc) with no problems whatsoever.. (Say what?) Yup, my Litey LTD 165\166 and my Polaroid BurnMAX48x needs no bwa file (install disc), thus the reason why I stress to many people at this forum to get the Lite-ON LTD 163\165\166 DVD-Roms. These bad boys defeat SecuROM 4.8.x, Safedisc 2.9, extract (rip) dvd's at about 11-12x, extract (rip) audio about 22-23x with superior dae as well. I recently found the Litey LTD 166S DVD-Rom at Wally-Mart for 48.99 and purchased one for my secondary pc.. It is safe to create an "install disc and a play disc" as your install disc may not spin up on other roms if you own a secondary or 3 pc's. :)

ok i tried what u told me. i was trying to copy the Play CD.

i put the BWA file in the same folder as the image
i set the Write mode= DAO pw
speed = 1x
i checked autoplay
i also used the blindwrite scaner to scan the image

after the burning the image. i tried to install the game to test it. after inserting the Play CD it gave me a Component Transfer Error is says "Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)."

when i read the log file for BlindWrite i found "using unknown Cd writer " many times.

please help

i checked autoplay
Not needed for SecuROM 4.8.x but doesn't hurt if ticked in the write process. You should have created the "install disc" (no bwa file) first to see if you could install\play from the backup as I advised in my previous post. Read the protected SecuROM cd slow to your hd and burn slow . If you fail the the latest BlindWrite build then switch to BlindWrite Suite 4.25

The problem i had was burning the play CD.
But i have a question if both CD's are protected by the same protection, why is one of them easier to burn than the other?
And is it possible succesfully backup Safedisc and securerom with a burner like mine or do i have to use a virtual drive and relay on emulation?
My burner is not listed in the list Shoey posted for burners that can backup savedisc and securerom but i was still able to perfectly backup the install cd for GTA vc and Warcraft 3 which both are protected by securerom.

thanx

Well this is the easy part of backing up SecuROM 4.8.x^ up

This is the most difficult process when backing up SecuROM 4.8.x as not every bwa file will work. It is recommended to read any SecuROM 4.8.x image slow and burn slow . I'm comfortable readin'\writin' at 8x.

Consider yourself lucky as your dvd\cd-rom can bypass the Twinsector cd scheme of the SecuROM protected cd(s) but it is advised that you create a "play" disc if you have a 2nd or 3 computers or if you decide later to replace your roms m8. The "list" I posted are Safedisc 2.x "killers"= burners and doesn't apply when backing up SecuROM 4.8.x. Most burners on the market have the ability to read sub-q channel (data\audio)=RAO DAO 96\94\16. If you wan't a burner than can easily backup Safedisc 2.9.x& SecuROM 4.8.x and many audio cd protections as well then grab the Litey LTR 52\32\52x or Litey LTR 52\24\52x (writes RAO DAO+96) can't go wrong elo...

i used the same burner to install the game
52x24x52 SONY CD-RW CRX220E1
Sony is really good but i know Lity's are the best when it comes to burning.

So can i backup GTA VC perfectly on a CD without the need of a virtualdrive or emulation with my burner?
