I just bought a DVD burner that only burns onto DVD+R cds. This forum does a lot of discussion about DVD-R. My question is " should I have purchased a DVD burner that records on both types of CDs if I want to record movies?" Also which are better to use and more compatible in DVD players,...DVD+R or DVD-R ???

Hmm, probably should have went ahead and bought a burner that does both + and -. Is what the deal is, is "they" havent quite decided what media they are going to stick with. Therefore if you have a DVD-R and they decide to stick with only the DVD+R then your burner will be useless. Of course by the time they decide which media to stick with your computer will be so outdated you will be ready to upgrade it anyway.

I dont think its an issue with what format to choose as such. Dual format drives are going to be the big thing in the future months. I don't expect there to be a decision reached on what format to use. Instead, i see it as both formats continuing with compatibility between them increased.

Personally, i wouldve bought a Pioneer DVR105.

Seems to me that only the older stand alone players have problems with dvd+rs as they will glitch but will play fine without glitches and pixelation in newer standalones.

Nothing wrong with your purchase if your burner burns fine IMHO... no need to upgrade to something better just yet.
