For the same price about $15 USD. Which one is a better chip? Is there any difference between the two?

XenoGC review - http://www.iso420.com/ngc/xenogcb/index.htm
DuoQ review - http://www.iso420.com/ngc/duoq/index.htm

They're about equal as far as I can tell. I've only had experience with the XenoGC, and so far I've had no problems with it. I installed it in my brother's brand new GameCube, and didn't even adjust the pot. Plays back-ups flawlessly.

However, I will say that because the XenoGC patches the firmware everytime the drive is reset, it has trouble with homebrew. I have no idea whether or not the DuoQ suffers from the same problem or not.

Thanks goes out to theridges for the userbars :)

I compared the two and they're very identical with only two differences...

Xeno GC has Direct Boot of DVD+-RW Media, Duo Q does not.
Duo Q has Multi Game Disk, Xeno does not.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Installation wise, Xeno looks simpler.

The XenoGC is actually fairly difficult to solder, especially if you don't have a soldering iron with a very pointed tip. I'd say they're about the same as far as difficulty is concerned, since the points are small regardless of what chip you use. Also, although it says it can direct boot rewritable DVDs, that's completely dependent on your GC, and can actually be bad for your GC if you do it too often. Whenever you rewrite the disc, the dye decays a bit, so it becomes harder to read each time. Considering how picky the GC laser is to begin with, I wouldn't recommend it.

ViperGC Extreme was about $60 last I checked. Much more than the XenoGC and DuoQ. For anyone that only wants to play back-ups, the ViperGC Extreme is overkill.

Actually, I make my own using the qoob Pro's built-in system. The only way I know how to do it with a XenoGC is to run GCOM off a disc, but since I never had success with GCOM on my qoob Pro, I'm hesistant to try it on my brother's GC.

The ViperGC Extreme has wonderful hardware, but the firmware still needs some work. Does it support the 16 megabit onboard memory? Also, did they ever fix the issue with the video mode setting not working? It's been almost a year since I've kept up with GC mod chips.
