@RemyK313, thanks for the information, now everyone could read that post and understand. But we still have to backup this game, Toxic are probably taking the piss, because like you said they are probably hooked to the DMS team, now what we have to do is to work on the Toxic OS, we have to decrpyt it and find out what it exactly does to make the dvd9 games work, once we find out we can make a patch for it for everyone. Cmon people, those who are smart at this stop wasting your time on PTP or OTP or DVD5, maybe DVD5 can be our next task, WHEN YOU ARE A BABY, YOU DONT LEARN TO RUN BEFORE YOU CAN WALK, thats the same here, we have to get something that does work (Toxic OS) and decrpyt it and make a patch, then we can see if we can put it on a DVD5, it would be easier afterwards because once the encrpytion has been cracked you can do whatever you like. So ppl, please stop wasting time and if you are good at this then try and help everyone out here. I am trying to do something myself on this Toxic OS, but i need your help as well i can't do this by myself, if everyone works together as a team we can make this work and in less time.

I'm new to making ps2 backups. I have a NEC DVD+R DL burner. I followed jzuijlek's method and DVD Decrypter says that the file is too large. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Yep! Basically it's bin fodder! It's criminal that a so called cracking group were happy enough to release a version that they knew damn well wouldn't work! Still back to the topic of legally backing up gt4. I have done some work previously with router firmwares but PS2 Modchips is a new one on me! I think I might be able to have a look though. If anyone has a dump of the original firmware, I will have a look at the differences the patched version has and see what I can find out.

simpsim1, i have the toxic os 0.3, you can have a look at that but if you want to tell the difference the toxic os 0.2 doesnt support dvd9 backups, you can look at the difference on those files. I've got toxic os 0.3, if you want it then just give me your email on PM. I don't have the toxic os 0.2, your gonne have to look for that.

Now this DVD9 patcher is released, the ppl that have DVD9 burners can get this game working, but for DVD5 people we still have to help them, lets not forget them as well.
And samuels, you was always saying that the ptp/otp has got nothing to do with the dvd checks, well, thats where your wrong, i've always said that the dvd checks are the ptp/otp problem. So I was right.
Anyway forget about that, thats in the past lets just try and help those ppl that dont have DVD9 burners.

Any1 know if the toxic patch would work on the hhd? I only ask this coz the patch does something to the image on the hdd b4 you burn it. Also dont you need a modchip to get dvd9 backups working so unless people have dvd9 burners and a mochip some people will still need help :-(
aye aye man

Perhaps we could get some feedback on whether the toxic resolution works with the likes of swap magic. I've tried it with my magic 3 modchip and it works an absolute friggin' treat!!! Looks like I can relax a bit now as I know that my original will last a bit longer now!!! Big thanx owed to the toxic team there!

I believe there is an earlier part of this thread that deals with the HDD loader. You need to read the thread back several pages! I believe Toolboy was the one to sort that out!
For those with a modchip and without a DL burner, check to see if a firmware update on your DVD Writer might do the trick. My burner is an NEC ND2500 patched with ND2510 firmware which converted it for dual layer. Check http://forum.rpc1.org to find out more.

As for the firmware very interesting point :-)

hey there, i have been follwing this forum for a while now, and today i tried to burn GT4 using the patch that was released, the patch Patches team toxic toxic dl patcher [97812].
it worked as expected burnt the game onto a DVD+RDL, 8.5GB disc, here is the problem,im using magic swap 3.3 and it doesent recognise it as a playstation 2 disc, i have done everything that is asked.
The only solution i have is that i need the mod chip that reads DVD+RDL disks and then i will be able to play GT4.
your thoughts are much appreciated.
thanks peter

Team TOXiC Dual Layer Image Patcher v1.0, so does this patch work for PAL and NSTC version's? 2nd question I do have a duel layer burner but does it matter anyway? I won't be able to use this backup with SM/fliplid correct? cause SM won't boot DVD9 backup's correct? So what can I do then? Wait for a SM DVD9 version or get a mod chip correct? So I can't do A EA mothod maybe and to UP the TOC that woyldn't work would it? By the way is this v1.0 the latest? I went to the toxic site to get the patch but you have to register to get it. Is there anywhere else I can get it?

I won't be able to use this backup with SM/fliplid correct? cause SM won't boot DVD9 backup's correct? So what can I do then? Wait for a SM DVD9 version or get a mod chip correct? So I can't do A EA mothod maybe and UP the TOC size using another DVD9 game maybe? that wouldn't work would it? thanks

Wow, I guess Toxic proved me wrong. Well, I take back everything I said, they have now come into the list of outstanding guys :)
Now, maybe we can work out a solution for DVD5. Maybe the patcher can help. :)
Today is a good day.

Yeah the funny thing was while it was burning using DVD Decrypter it stopped half way during the burning process and i thought oh no whats happened here but after a few sec's it continued so maybe it was just changing over to the second layer or something anyway it fully works.

i beg to differ,go back a few ,might actually be quite a few pages, and several people agreed with me,it's the dvd checks,in the ioprp300.img...so actually i was right :)...
but like you said lets put that all behind now and help others in trying to get it onto a DVD5...
ok is there a way this patch could be manipulated, especially if someone is working on trying to reduce the size of the game, there may have to be quite a bit of ripping involved,i could be wrong on quite a bit of ripping, but something will have to go.
