I have 4 PAL DVDs that I bought in the UK ....I would like to back them up as NTSC...I tried with no success ..They stay as PAL...

My process was as follows: I ripped them with Smart Ripper on my laptop which was switched to region 2...I had Smart Ripper configured to remove region check....I then switched my DVD-R back to region 1 and ran the file through DVD2One and burned it...When I try to play the backup it tells me that it is the wrong region...

Now I am bummin because I have no region switches left on my Sony GRX 670 with the Toshiba® SD-R6012 DVD-RW

Any ideas?

You should get your sd-r6012 drive's firmware patched to "region free".

When you burn the DVD-R, make it region free. DVD Decrypter will still rip discs that are on a different region to the drives. The other option is as wilcodec says, upgrade your firmware to an RPC1 version.

I HAVE the region free burners and I did rip it as region free...The problem is...Its still in PAL region movie that will not play in my set top players....

My post says I need to convert it to NTSC...

PAL is not a region specification, it is a video format standard. The region is a simple, several bit-sized code that controls the compatability of a DVD with a player.
However, the region code has no relationship to the video standard (NTSC or PAL) that the DVD contains. NTSC is 720 x 480 at 29.97fps and PAL is 720 x 576 at 25fps. Regardless of region, a player and TV set up for one video standard (and not capable of internal conversion) will not display the other.
You have two choices:
1) Watch the DVDs on your computer, which is much more flexible than your standalone and TV set regarding what resolutions and framerates it will accept.
2) Convert the movies to NTSC standard by re-encoding the titles to match the NTSC standard. This is a long process, but can be accomplished:
