I use AnyDVD and CloneDVD. My systems is DVD+R using a Plextor PX-716A Double Layer Internal ATAPI Drive. After running and original DVD through AnyDVD and copying it with CloneDVD, it plays back the copies but only in certain DVD players. The copies don't play back in Coby, Samsung or Fisher DVD players (so far). I have gone out and purchased Philips and Panasonic players and the copies play fine in them. What is curious is that the original DVD's play fine in all the machines but the copies play in only the Philips and Panasonics that I own. This causes some problems when I take my copied DVD's to friends homes and learn that most of the time the copies wont play in their machines. Is it an age factor of the DVD player that might be causing this problem? If so why do the originals play in them and not the copies? Is there something in the AnyDVD program that is not copying correctly from the original to the copy that prohibits playback in certain DVD players? Is there anything that Slysoft can do to overcome this problem so that copies will play in all DVD players? Any help or suggestions would really be appreciated.

Some older DVD players won't play +R discs.

Your Plextor is capable of booktyping/bitsetting "+R" media. Not sure whether it booktypes out of the box or if you have to change with Plextools? Changing the booktype to Dvd-rom increases compatibility with home dvd players.

That said, SOME dvd players do not like media burnt at higher speeds. What speed are you using? Slow down your speed to half the rated speed. ie. 16X burn at 8X. Also make sure you are using recommended media....Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Made in Japan Sony, Fujifilm, or Maxell.

Mackdl gave you good advise, here is more:

there are plenty of reasons why certain dvds won't play in other players:

1. burning speeds: burn at 4x so there will be less writing errors (rule of thumb is to burn at half the rated speed of the disk--8X disk burn at 4x).
2. read manual for your stand alone player and use the disks that will play in your player. If your player is less than 2 yrs old then it should play the + or - R disks! I said SHOULD that's why you read the manual.
3. try booktyping your drive to DVd-ROM so it will make your +R disks more compatible to players. Read this:
http://k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php
4. make sure that there are no finger prints or scratches on your disk that make it hard for the player to read the disk!
5. use good quality media (rule of thumb....buy the ones that are Made in Japan.) Verbatim is a top notch disk and is the only exception to this rule....some Verbatims are made in Taiwan and they are top notch!
6. and don't burn too close to the outer edge of the disk ..... which will make the disk unreadable! but using good media you will be able to burn close to the edge better than lesser quality media. Just in case I only burn no closer than 4400MB, so if you can set your programs to that, all the better!

follow these little tips of the trade and you'll have better success! good luck.
