Hey ad'ers.

Ive connected my reciever to my dvd player using the dvd player as a normal cd player for the time being (plugged it into the "cd" av slots on the back of my reciever), and its great.

I read the instructions about how to connect it to the tv, and, as usual, the instructions gave me a detailed and informative diagram of a black box, with 2 wires coming out from behind it (of which you cant see the actual connection) and going into a smaller black box being the dvd player.

Well, this reciever doesnt have a scart socket on it. It has lots of av slots labelled the usual (tv, cd, dvd) and 3 on the front saying aux above them, and individually labelled video, audio l, and audio r.

My tv, has a scart socket on the back and 2 slots on the front. one labelled "video -in" (yellow) and the other "audio" (white).

Now, what i did was using a standard av cable, connect the "tv" labelled av slots to the 2 on the front of m tv (described above).

It didnt get any sound from the tv. I know its that connection im doing wrong because when i turn the volume fully up the speakes blare with static sound lol, and it works perfectly with my dvd player alone used as a cd player.

In the instruction manual, it says the 3 av slots on the front of the reciever are for external devices such as video cameras.

I was wondering if this is the same as the slots i described on the front of the tv. And should i buy one of these scart adaptors:

^^^ I believe these are called Scart RCA adaptors or something (if not kindly tell me what they are called also :D)

Anyway, i was wondering whether to get one of these and plug my av lead into this and put it in the scart socket at the back. Would that make a difference?

Please give me advice anyway, i thought before messing around and blowing it up or something id ask you guys first. thanks:D

Thanks ireland!![afterdawn legend]

How are you making out with this Kiddo? I wish I knew how to answer your question ... looks like a plain ol' adapter problem to moi. Have you asked the folks from whom you bought it or have you got any "radio shack" type of stores in coventry?

Hey billybob, can you use a scart to phono lead cable to connect the two...if your dvd player has lots of phono plugs on it (like the red and yellow ones ya...)

Like this...

Actually, brilliant!

I watched a dvd yesterday, and it worked through the reciever! I didnt even realise it was connected, until i looked behind and i realised i had never disconnected the dvd player from the tv, just connected the dvd player and the reciever a different way!

Sounds good, even for my crappy speakers.

My tvs mono though not stereo ive just recently learnt, so im on the lookout for a cheap (as usual!) high definition tv, like a 17" or something.

Hows the speaker hunt going gerry? How are you?

Thanks ireland!![afterdawn legend]
