monstercable S-Video vs Component?

I received monstercable S-Video cables for a gift about a year ago. Unfortunately my current TV does not an S-Video input. I'm planning to get a new TV that will have component inputs and am wondering how much of a difference it will make. Is it worth spending $ to buy the component or are S-Video plenty good enough. Any feedback appreciated.

I don't think the difference from svideo to compnent is that big but, it is quite noticable from RCA to svideo or component. If your svideo package is unopened maybe you can exchange it somewhere?
