Novice! DVD burner will not work ahhh!

Hi, I have recently bought a dvd+rw/+r burner and i am trying to copy some movies i have downloaded to dvd . Every time i do this my computer spits the disc out and says its not a cd-r ? please can someone help ?

You need to supply more information. What program are you using to burn the discs? What format are the downloaded videos in.

It looks as though you are trying to burn a VideoCD which is why the drive wants a CD-R inserted!

thanks for your post : I am using Nero to burn the cd's and you are correct i am trying to burn a VCD to a blank DVD , take it thats the problem !

Yes the formats are different. You will need to use a program that can create the files needed for a DVD from a Video CD.

Yes it does doesn't it!

I don't know if it's any help but I used Ulead Video Studio to make a DVD (Including Menu's) from a bunch of Mpeg files I had (home video's and other downloaded stuff)

Ulead Video Studio automatically converted the different Video formats to go on the DVD. It was quite slow - and Video studio is buggy so save often - but it worked really well and was very simple!
