Has anyone tried the ACCU brand DVD-R? They advertise "as good as Ritek."

Oriphus, you're all over the place. How do you find time to answer everyone's questions? By the way, I'm probably not going to try them unless I hear something good. Well, maybe I'll try 1. Ha, Ha. Talk to ya later.

I Think the 1X Accu disks are great! I've burned about 30 so far with no coasters and they all burn past 4GB with no skipping or pausing. They play in all 4 of my DVD players including the PS2. These disks burn at 2X on my Sony DRU510A and are well worth it for the low price!

lol - there are really 3 of me ;-]

Jevon, hope you continue to have success with the discs. A good way to gt through life is by adhereing to this:

If it works, why change it.

Some with that in mind ill stick to the very well documented and extremely successful Ritek G04's

I bought 100 from Meritline about 2 and a half months ago and have nearly gone through all of them. Not one coaster!!! a message of caution though, when I updated the firmware on my Sony 500AX the Accus would only burn at 1X. I had to go back to firmware 1.0g. My batch of Accus had a disc manufacturer ID of LD01 (possibly lead data) whereas some other people had Accus with an ID of Sony. The only way I could find the ID was with with DVD Decryptor. The discs are not labled.

The discs are made by Lead Data.

But Lead Data make discs for Sony; they are in fact Sony's no 1 OEM.

Lead Data's QC is as bad as Princo's though, to the point where there is cross-pollenation between the stampers. There are plenty of "Sony" LD discs kicking around, and also a few reported cases of Sony discs with Lead Data ID.

The Sonys are in effect "Fake Sony" media, although not illegal just a mistake/slackness on LD's part, as the dye is of inferior quality to the Sony OEM media and so you *may* have problems with the "Sony" Accu discs on some writers.
