with the same names...so I felt I had to start a new one (have been trying to use search but didn't find the answer I was looking for =)

I'm kinda new to PS2, bought mine a month ago from a swedish page that is kinda like ebay.

It was already chipped but I have no idea with what chip......my problem is that I can't play any of the games I have burned...my neighbour can play each and everyone of them tho on his chipped PS2.

So...is it a problem with my chip...or is it like...an old Bios? (or whatever it's called when it's a PS2 =)

And btw....I CAN play burned games...I have burned some games on CD that work perfectly and most of the games I got with the PS2 is working, but not a single DV-game I've burned myself works =(

Ok...sorry about double-posting, but can't find out how to (if it's possible) to edit my post.

When I checked my Version now it said:

Console: SCPH-3004
Browser: 1.20
CD-Player: 1.20
Playstation Driver: 1.10
DVD-Player: 1.30E

Not sure if this helps at all...but....that's what I found anyway =p

firstly edit button is on the top right of the post looks like a little notebook with a pencil on it. From what you describe I would guess 3 things.

1) your ps2 doesn't like the dvd media you use (I'm saying this because you say they work on your friend's modded ps2 which means they are good backups).

2) your ps2 laser is weak and won't play dvd backups

3) your modchip is an old one that requires double swapping to play dvd backups (since you don't mention if the cd games get booted directly or with a swap)

Ah ok....thanks about that...I'm used to it saying "edit message" or something like that.

Well I can play the burned Games I got with the PS2 so that shouldn't be the problem.....are there some chips/PS2's that require DVD+R ?

Cause they wont work on his PS2 (neighbours) but work on mine...and it's the games I've burned on DVD-R that aren't working here =/

with the older systems they could be picky. Most of them liked DVD-R and not +r some would play both and rare ones would play +r better than -r. The ones you got with the system that work are dvd media? Maybe you're burning too fast for your ps2s liking? Try burning on -r at no more than 4X if that doesn't work try the +r at 4X.

I never burn faster then 2X so that shouldn't be it...

And yes...all the games I have are DVD's....and most if not all of the working ones are DVD+R, only ONE of the games I've burned for my neighbour works on mine.....and yes..it IS a DVD-R..which is why I'm wondering if my chip maybe can't use the newer games or something?

I say try different media brand. Could be that the +r games that came with the system were booktyped to dvd-rom.
