All,
I have bricked my 360 DVD drive. I am interested in finding out how to get the key off of it and put it into a new drive. Please give me links to all sites you have used that work and any other information you may have. Thank you and I am sorry I do not search myself, but I have and have not found much, which is why i am asking for sites with info you have pesonally used to fix such a problem. Thank you very much in advance.
Basically I am looking at getting the key off the old drive and then replacing the key on the new one.. thank you

the drive is a hitachi. i basically used the two wire trick to get it into modeb and then when it was in modeb windows was loading but got stuck on the screen so i shut down and tried again.. basically i never got the key off the drive yet. i was hoping i could still get it to load into windows and extract it. the drive still powers on just doesnt open at all..
thanks for the quick reply..

Why don't you try and see if window and recognize it and run the flasher? That is how you get the key of a hitachi drive outside of desoldering the chip on it.

If you got your hitachi drive into modeb and windows hangs during booting, open your hitachi drive. Then windows should load.

Try opening it with the emergency disc release. Remove the faceplate. Straighten a paper clip. Stick the straightened paper clip in the little hole below the last X in Xbox 360 on the disc tray.

Did you really jam it there? You have to force it open somewhat. It's the same with all CD/DVD ROM drives. It has to go in there at about 4-5 inches deep.
