[bold] Help - IDE DVD+/-RW in IDE/1394 Enclsoure not working[/bold]

Installed a new IDE DVD+/-RW Burner into an IDE/1394 Enclosure.
Powered up and attached to laptop (XP SP2) using firewire cable.
The system does not recognize/mount new drive. It only sees my hard drive and laptop CDRW/DVD Rom drive. The 1394 does see a DV camcorder when attached.
I have tried the new DVD Burner as a master and a slave. Neither worked.
Any help?!?
