Hello,

I'm looking for programs that do not require much memory.
The programs in particular are security programs such as anti-virus, anti spyware, anti trojans, firewall, registry cleaner and file cleaner.

I'm currently using Norton Internet Security, Spyware Doctor and CCleaner on my PC (Pentium 4, 2.4Ghz, 768 MB RAM) but I'm now rebuilding an old PC which is a Pentium 2 and has very low memory.

I would like to install the particular programs mentioned above but that does Not use up alot of RAM.

Programs that I consider "fast running" programs are the Spyware Doctor mentioned previously and CCleaner.

I've found many freeware programs on the internet but haven't downloaded them or tried them out yet.

These are:

AVG Antivirus // Anti Virus Programs
Avast! //

Kerio // Firewalls
ZoneAlarm firewall //
Comodo firewall //

Ewido // Anti Trojan

Toni Helenius' free EasyCleaner // Registry Cleaners
Eusing Free Registry Cleaner //

CCleaner // Temporary File Cleaners
Steven Gould's CleanUP! //

I would like to know if anyone could recommend programs like these, that are "Fast Running" programs which don't require much memory.

Any suggestions or recommendations;
Greatly appreciated.

Thanking in Advance,

All programs are going to use considerable RAM when running their system scans. Another consideration is what OS are you going to install? Win98 is no longer supported by Microsoft and I don't know if a PII will run XP.

What you should do is visit the web pages for the programs you listed and see which ones will fit with the system specs. The PII is outdated and may not be supported by some of them.

Another option for you to consider is to try Linux! Linux will run great on a low RAM and older processor.

Have fun.
