Cant get my Hitachi recognized by windows.

I am having trouble getting my Hitachi v47 drive detected by windows. I put it into modeb with the 2 wire trick and connected it using a sata to usb cable. When I turn on windows nothing shows up in my computer. I know that this cable is working because I tried doing the slax live cd and everything worked up until the last step of puting the drive into modeb I typed in the modeb /dev/sda command and I got an input/output error. But the driver was detected by the vmware player.
