well, as it is coming up soon, i thought i'd be the first to start the thread. these thread are perfect for referenceing events such as this by talking about everything that happens there here.
so what is the tgs? basically a major gathering of game developers.
http://tgs.cesa.or.jp/english/
playable ps3 and psp games ay the tgs.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6156273.html
what are your thoughts? what do you think sony will do? do you think people will be amazed so much at the finished product, the mistakes made before will have little effect? who knows. im sure all the games will be nice, and it seems there are going to be alot of launch titles.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

Hopefully there will be some good news after some bad but I won't hold my breath. However there should be some new game announcements and new vids.I think with e3 not coming back EVER in it's prior glory the devs will start looking towards the tgs even more.

i think the main reason the jp numbers are so low because they have less than half of our citezens, and sony also knows nintendo is cheaper and the markey there ops for that kind of thing. just look at the ds. it was inferior in any way i could imagine to the psp, but it sold like hotcakes, much more than the psp (largely due the the psp's lackluster games and lack of innovation, and price vs value in the japanese markets eye.) i believe the numbers of wii vs ps3 sold in japan will be comparable to those of ds vs psp.

I think tgs is a make or break situation for sony,I don't have to mention everything that's happened with the ps3 since 2005 but it's there, and it seems that sony is trying to make a big impression having so many playable games,if those games are actually very impressive(the ps3 ones) then maybe sony has a chance, but if they suck, then well, you may aswell start digging a grave, but sony seem to think it's their PS3 party and they can't wiat for it,but we'll see what happens, make or break,it's what the consumers decide...

they need to leave a good impression with their line-up to survive strong this time around.
one thing that needs to be said at tgs is a psp price cut. because its still 250 f***ing dollars, and its been close to 2.5 *word of such obcenity it could not even be just censored* years. its doing so poorly because it has so few games worth playing, a price tag that is insane for any handheld (the f*gs at sony would say "well you're paying for a console on the go" and i do not pay for a haldheld for that alone), and to get even half of the best out of your psp you need to sink as much into it as a low-end ps3 is going to cost.

youd think the marketing people at sony would understand simple economics, like cost price elasticity
They lowered the umd movie prices in japan to about the equivalent of $8 usd , and there was a surge of sales....
sry i cant remember where i read the story, if i do i'll post the link......
here you go
http://psp.joystiq.com/2006/09/06/captai...ngs-huge-sales/
if they did the same for the US market i'm surethe same would happen,
hopefully they'll announce a price drop of some sort at TGS......
Cant wait.

Hopefully they'll have a lot of PNP info too. Or at least a good simulation. I like the 360's dashboard... wonder what the ps3's interface will turn out to be like.

or you mean the ingame general purpose interface like when dashboard is opened. cuz i think it goes to this screen anytime ingame when that button is pressed. its like an OS in its own right, similar to the psp's xmb.

I don't really want xfire myself...I could have it on the pc but I choose not to.I hope sony's online service will have everything xfire offers and more ,virtually eliminating the need for third party apps.
I just see xfire as a gamespy knock off with chat ;)

this is what i have read and to recap:
sony apparantly wanted at TGS (which already started) to have 200 playable ps3 units!
they announced the price cut for the 20gig model. it is currently only for japan or so the sources indicate.
http://www.ps3land.com/article-741.php
Quote: Users will also be able to upload their own content to Sony's online service and can give ideas of suggestions to game developers.
that is a nice idea and potential feature
Quote: -Emulators for other older consoles such as the SEGA Mega Drive, and even the PC, can be downloaded over the network as well.
-Sony's online service will also offer videos, and users may be able to share their own video clips, similar to the YouTube service.
this is pretty intersting and i like what i have heard

here is a summary of what has been learned through sonys reavealing's, but they still havnt given any easter eggs on the online service. well, other than user content for pc versions of games can be cross compatable with the ps3's version and transferable throught the ps3 online service. check out the ut2007 thread for more info on that.
