It is calling the program Microsoft Shared Fax Client. I've gone to the add/remove programs options and don't see that prgram and i've done a search for it and still don't see it. CAN SOME 1 please help me.~

huh? What do you mean "uninstalled" it. YOu need to format your Window partition or run the recovery part of the disk.

i originally had windows ME on this computer, then i installed windows xp HE from a burned copy of it. I ran into some technical issues and went back to my old version of windows by removing xp from the add/remove programs list. I now have an original copy of xp HE, but like i said the advisor is saying that a program called Microsoft shared fax client must be removed b4 i can install windows xp. How do i format my window partion?

@rav009: He stated that he does have an original now.
@cazmack: Go to Add/Remove programs under control panel. Then go to add/remove windows components. You should be able to uncheck the Fax services from there. You will probably have to reboot after you make these changes.
If it were me, I would strip Windows down to nothing. I would remove ALL of the options under Add/Remove Components, reboot and do the upgrade.
Well, actually, I would back up my data and do a fresh install if it were my machine, but we are trying to fix your issue here. Let us know what happens.

If you have an original copy of XP just boot from the CD and format the partition. It?s way easier to just start with a clean slate? If you don?t have an original copy of the disc there are ways around that.
