What files get deleted if you already have windows ME and instead of choosing the upgrade, u choose new installation? A warning comes up that some files may get deleted, anyone know which ones? I'm more concerned about pics, mp3s, and videos getting deleted.

If you choose new installation, EVERYTHING on your harddrive will get overwritten.

No i can't, as what you said in that thread is impossible.
You said you removed XP via add/remove programs, but since windows XP is an entire OS, and not just a program, there is no way in Hell that you did it that way.

Windows XP actually has a new feature when upgrading. You can uninstall XP and go back to your old OS.

Here is your cut and dry answers

Upgrading - all your files and setting SHOULD still be there

Installing - all your files will NOT be there

*Backing up files is always a good idea*

Never upgrade a Microsoft operating system.

As the others suggested, back up your important data/music/movie files...and install New. Wipe any partitions on your drives, and use Quick Format NTFS. (quick is the same as full, it just doesn't check for physical issues on the hard drive surface)
