i have a hitachi drive ver 59 i flashed with that opa 7.2 flash i was in mode b and flash went 100 done no errors i tried backups that i used on my other 360 w a samsung that do work but get an error on the hitachi drive dirty disk or unrecognized disk.any one have the same problem or have a fix please help as i am not sure what steps to take from here on.thanks skpippins

I've heard that some types of disc work better on some drives. Not really too sure about why or why not though.

i got the same exact error...

im thinking the only reason is that our discs dont have a bitsetting for dvd-roms, so its recognized as a dl DVD+R. certain drives support bitsetting and some do not. my sony drive doesnt, that could be my problem, or it may just depend on the burner.

My Sony drive does do DVD-ROM for DVD+DL and it still doesn't work. Gotta get me one of those Pioneer Drives.

Well, I didn't want to buy a pioneer drive so I reflashed my 360 back to the original firmware, then flashed with Birdy_Hitachi-LG_friendly_Flasher_v2.2_with_Xtreme_v1.3_and_2.0 mediacheck2_FIXED and now my backups work perfectly. I use a Sony DRU 810a with Verbatim DVD+R DL. I suggest getting this firmware as it worked for me and my 59DJ drive.

I concur! I have a 46dh Hitachi Drive and Backups didn't work right until I flashed the Birdy firmware you mentioned.

Also, I was having a problem with Memorex DVD DL discs being burned with my NEC 3500AG Burner. I picked up some Verbatim discs today and all the backups run like my originals.
