Give a freeware authoring program called ReJig a try (http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=ReJig). A basic authoring program but at least you'll find out whether or not your mpegs have to be re-encoded.

@avols143,
Fast & quick is not the best with DVDs. General rule is: whatever the maximum speed of the media is (with your burner) burn at 1/2 that or 4X. You'll get the best results this way.

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

For NTSC 4:3 display you need 720x480 29.97 fps mpeg 2

Every night has its day.
Even forever must come to an end....
I think.

If you have 'Smart Encoding" checked in Nero it should not re-encode DVD compliant files.

As to burning speeds my rule is to find the proper media for your burner that burns at it's rated spped. One size does not fit all.

If you peruse some of these reviews you will see that many new burners can burn quality discs at 16X.
