Hi all,

Well today I ordered a XBOX 360 and should be getting it within the next 2 days...

My question is: Im looking to play backup copys on the xbox and I've read you need to flash the firmware to do this. Is there any risk involved, will it void the warranty, and is it safe? I really dont want to fuck up my console in the first day of getting it so I just want to make sure theres no risk in it fucking up!

thanks

welcome to the 360 scene. there is always risk in flashing your firmware but hey, we all have to take risks in achieving something great haha. but anyways first of all it does VOID the warranty as soon as you open the console, second it all depends on which drive you have, the easiest is the toshiba-samsung drive, i find extremely easy to flash and then there is the hitachi drive which there is more of a risk because to become visible in windows you have to do something or other with 2 wires and it doesn't sound very safe to me because i have already read a few instances where people have bricked there drive in trying to flash. but that is only if you want to make backups of discs. you can always download a prepatched game and the just burn that is always the easiest. hope this helps, if you have any more guestions just ask my brotha.

Hi, I've been reading up about extracting SS and adding them some time ago. Now I haven't really followed the "news" when groups started releasing pre-patched isos.

my question is, usually the .nfo says: tested with hitachi drive blabla. does that mean it wouldn't work for a samsung drive? ie. are the prepatched isos patched for a one certain drive, or would it work on both samsung and hitachi? I know it may seem like a dumb simple question, but there are sooo many articles about, it's confusing now. thanks for answering.

You mean you could download a prepatach game and be able to play it on an Xbox 360 that doesn't have the firware update?

No you can't play any backups without having firmware flashed.

but that relates to my question: does it require a special pre-patch for a different drive, or do they work for all.

also have fun and take a major warning:

microsoft has been realeasing xbox 360's with a new set of instructions inside the firmware that cause the firmware update halfway through to crash and will trash your cd drive for your xbox 360 and there is no way to tell weather it will work or not you have to try and take a huge risk just remember backup your stock firmware first

@ icelad... don't listen to johnodd4... he makes it a habit of coming in this forum and spreading lies.

Both drives, the samsung and the hitachi, can be flashed. It will void you warrenty as you do have to open up the 360.

wats up guys, i just bought the xbox360 a couple o days ago, and i was reading all around on how to play back up copies of xbox 360 on my xbox 360 and ive gotten alot different shit.

i know you have to flash the xbox360 but noone gives links or anything, can someone give me a link on how to flash my xbox360 in which it gives instructions on how to actually do it if possible.

also, is it true that to download xbox360 games, they have to be "prepatched" cuz i have newsgroups and in binsearch xbox360 games are AALLL OVER the place. (i only download games i own of course)
but can i actually just download these games and play them with this flash method???

i basically wanna know if its posible to play backed up or downloaded games with my xbox360 also if someone can help me with flashing my xbox360

thanks alot man,, hey does anyone know if these new usb connectors that come with sata cables actually work. I think theyre from team xecution. Its a usb adaptor for the xbox360 in which u connect to the xbox 360 and u can connect an external sata hard drive. i guess that means no need to open up the xbox, it sounds alot easier than opening and stuff,,, does anyone know if these things actually work from experience or word of of mouth,, thanks alot guys
