Movie drifting when trying to burn on nero!

Im trying to copy a movie from HD onto a DVD using nerovision express, the movie plays fine in powerdvd and windows media player, but when i try to burn it with Nero it shows the picture drifting across the screen and the slanted at an angle. The movie is widescreen format and mpeg layer 3. Its an AVI. can anyone help me, im thinking its maybe a codec problem, if so does anyone know where i can get a good pack with no adware or any other spyware type rubbish.
