the red ring of death is caused by a bad power supply

bad news is a new power supply will cost you 300.00 sucks huh

$300? Yeah right! You can get a 360 power supply, brick and cord $100 on ebay or less.

RROD is just a general hardware failure alert. so it could be one of many things. so a power supply might not help him at all.

its not a gerneral failure if you get the ring of death it is a power supply even microsoft knowledged that the ring of death is caused by a set of bad power cells that where shipped with a lot of xbox 360's and you cannot get a stock xbox 360 power cell for 100.00 off of ebay that is the starting bid for a power supply not the price tag you can get the power supply for

These are brand new and buy it now. There's many on there. This guy sells them starting at .99 and others starting at $60.

That's pretty far off from $300... which is also the cost of a whole new core system. I'm sure MS would sell power supplies for $300...NOT.

It's no problem. But it's not necessarily the power supply. I was just posting to the crap johnodd4 was saying. First you have to get the error code and that may tell you what the problem is. Here's a quick guide to get the code:
