Hi all
I wonder if someone can help me
I had a Matrix chip put in my PS2 v12 a few months back. Now, when I turn it on i get the Matrix screen and the it goes straight to the browser menu. I cannot seem to play originals or back ups.
I can access the Matrix config menu but just can't play games.
It has been working fine up to now.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hmmmm, not getting very far here.

From what i have read so far it looks like this is probably likely to be a laser issue of some kind. Anyone know what I need to buy to replace this part because there is a block and some other bits available and not sure which one to get.

Also, is it easy to install ie does it need soldering in etc or is it a screw job?

Thanks for any advice on this.

Could you not ask the people who chipped it?

I take it they didnt give you any gurantee or warranty of any kind?

You could try to clean the laser lens. If you feel comforable opening up your case, take the cover off of the cd drive and use a Q-Tip with some rubbing alchohol on it and gently rub the lens in a circular motiion. Dry it with the other side of the Q-Tip. Put 'er back together and try that.

try to turn your modchip off by pressing the start button and it should come up and say "disabled" this means your modchip is trned off now you might be able to access your original games. once turned off your modchip turns on, try the back up games now

Hey guys, I got an original MI chip installed the other day but I cant upgrade the firmware or edit any of the settings on the chip (can't even turn it off) no matter what buttons I presss and no matter at what time.

What's the problem?

Nah, I see the "Matrix" logo when I boot it up. Oh and yes, I did get to the matrix configuration screen. Haven't tried the firmware update yet though. I might not even do it as the current bug fixes fix things that don't bother me.

I got the Infinity Manager, LaunchElf and SMS to work via a Hack-in-the-box method that I invented thanks to some of the info on the boards.

cheers guys.
