I recently bought True Crime and Xenosaga I off of an American game store (I live in Australia): without realising NTSC doesen't work on PAL PS2's.
I have a V9 PS2 (I think, Double-Disc verification or something right?) and have had no trouble running PGEN, SNES, PSX Games and a few import titles here and there (thanks to AR MAX's memory manager).
Whenever I try and load those 2 games with the Cog Swap Loader it doesen't work, with Xenosaga I just get a blank screen. With True Crime I get up to this bit (at the intro) where the main guy punches the screen; that is like the introductory scene with all of the game endorsers etc., then I get a black screen and it gives me the Insert PS2 compatible disc error.
Can anyone please help me? These games look wicked and had to wait ages to get them - and my sister/parents might get angry 'cause they helped me pay for them :(:(.

You might want to remove that email address from your post. It doesnt make the mods happy....its against forum rules. As far as getting the games to work, you might have to rip them and use the NTSC2PAL converter and play them from a burned copy. I'm no pro at converting games to/from NTSC/PAL though.

I know xenosaga is a dual layer game which is most likely the problem. Not sure is true crime is a dual layer game or not.

True Crime is a normal game, but it is quite big, so it could be larger than the game you're using with CogSwapLoader to boot it. That being the case, it won't load.
The best games to use as TOC refresh loaders are; Devil May Cry, DMC2 or GTA: Vice City.

Sorry about the e-mail!
- and thanks for all of your fast replies. That's strange though, if it is too large of a game to load, why would it show the opening credits thingy?
I have MGS3, and I think that's a pretty huge game..
A speedy resolution would be highly appreciated :).

Many games that are larger than your 'trigger' disc's TOC will load up to certain points, but as soon as the game you're trying to load tries to access a piece of data that is passed the TOC of your 'trigger', then they'll freeze. Where & when this happens is dependant on the games' requirement for the data that's beyond the trigger's TOC.

Awesome! I'm glad to here that, as I though it may have been something else - I knew the general idea of the TOC, but didn't know it could just drop out after loading, kind of makes sense now.
Sweet, I'll look around for that TOC list I saw a while ago.
