Of my three options, which has the least chance of permenantly damaging my PS2, including possible incidental damage due to opening the system, and installing the device? I don't care about the most convenient device, just the safest.

I've looked around the forum for a while, but I couldn't really find any thread that sufficiently answered my question.

I've tried installing a flip top on my PS2 with little avail. Either I'm messing something up in the 4 or 5 aborted installation attempts, or the flip top is misshapen, or something. The reset/eject assembly never fit well into the flip top's slot, and the white disc that I took from the top of the DVD drive and inserted into the top of the lid never made good contact, as it would grind CONSTANTLY, unless pressure was put on top of the lid.

Ideally, I don't want to have to mess with opening my PS2 at all, or as little as possible to avoid damaging any internal components.

I understand that I wouldn't have to open the PS2 for a slide card, but I worried that using a slide card would wear-out/damage the gears of the DVD tray. Also, as I understand it, the Magic Switch requires very little in the way of invasive installation, but I am ignorant of any possible problems that using a Magic Switch might cause.

Thanks for any help.

Flip-top is the best option, as it poses least danger of PS2 damage.
Slide card poses the most danger of PS2 damage.

How unsafe is using a slide card, because I don't see how it could be anymore risky than using a flip top?

The flip top I installed was riddled with problems, every time it didn't fit on the lower shell properly, the white disc never made good contact with the DVDs, and the PS2's eject/reset ribbon kept getting in the way, since the assembly never fit properly into the flip top case.

By the way, if anyone could refer me to a flip top case/retailer considered to be very safe it would be much appreciated.
