Those of you who were going to save $100 for the cheaper PS3 may have to wait a lil longer. Reports show that the Launch of 400,000 ps3s to North America will be 80% $599 units and 20% $499 units. Aditional reports say that sony will quickly try and release an aditional 800,000 units by the end of 2006 making the total 1.2 mil units since launch. Here is the link and a few other things about online and projected monthly production after january 2007.

once the xmas boom is over, supply will increase and by spring anyone who wants can have a ps3 in your own room safe and sound.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

Yup true true.
Now i'm going to say something that i haven't mentioned here before. I think i'll be one of those waiting till next spring (maybe before a little beforeif i can get one). I'll be skipping launch and i can't beleive i made that choice. I might not have enough cash and I might not be able to go to the states before 2007 to get on either (cause there's no way i'm buying one for $1,000 US out here). :( whats worse is that i might get a wii b4 i get ps3.

what if that wifi card is incompatable? or that card reader? since sony makes versions themselves i believe they might do something like that, as they have before. but the 60gb ps3 with shiny trim, silver words, and internal adapters to unclutter space, its pretty appealing, but the price needs to be lowered a little to compensate. either way issnt this only in japan anyways? not in the us?

Yeah but you can only wait and see if they might lower the price or not. Either way if they lower the price of the ps3 it means more games

so with the 20gig having hdmi, do people think that more buyers would be willing to "settle" with the cheaper model(if the 60gig is soldout)? i'll only get the 60gig, but im wondering if this changes people's minds about things.

Quote: In Japan there is a perception that one yen is the same as one dollar and one euro, so Japanese people feel it's a little expensive," said Nanako Kato, a spokeswoman for SCEI in Tokyo. The U.S. launch price is US$499 and the cut would bring the Japanese price in line with that of the U.S. in the minds of consumers, she said.
.
Guys we are not getting cheated here in the U.S.

well i don't know too much about japan, but whether the price is 100$ in one place or 500$ in another should raise some questions. one being the power of the dollar, then there is the cost of living, economy and so on. either way, the 20gig model is now a pretty good price for what it offers.

yes, but the wifi and card readers are separate. the adapters would just clutter up space. plus a 20 gb wont last you long. the low-end will run you more in the long run.

well yeah i guess it would run more, but really only for those who want the extra features. 20gigs really isn't too much, but then again i don't think 60 is a whole lot either. if anything i'd expect quite a few people to upgrade to larger hdd, so in terms of money and comparison that could actually be a wash, but i think you'll be right. to buy and piece everything so the 20gig has the same features as the 60gig would run more in the end, but i still think the 20gig is looking pretty good.

i guess for those with less on their mind for the versability and they just want to play than its great.

I just think that it's a reallt good move on sony'e part it include the 20 gig with hdmi. It gives comsumers better options when choosing so they dont have to go 60gig to get hdmi
