I have never had a problem burning or watching a dvd, but I do go through four different steps. To rip the dvd I first use dvdfab, I'm not sure what version, but I am nearly positive it is the most recent version. Then I use VobBlanker 2.1.1.0 to get the bugs out. After that I use DVD Shrink to actually bring the movie down to the right size and finally I burn the ISO image with DVD Decrypter. This process usually takes a good hour or two. Is there anyway I can still get quality out of my dvd backups and possibly not use so many steps? I'm kinda new to the whole process, only a couple months into it, and I am not extremly computer literate but I am always open to any help or suggestions. Thanks
If you are willing to buy a copy of a program Called CloneDVD 2 and AnyDVD. This will cut the time down extremley or just keep it at about an hour to get a good quality backup. but withese 2 programs the reliabilty is excellent.
The Process I go through is.
1. DVD Fab Decrypter
2. DVD Shrink 3. CloneDVD 2 (This program also does compress the movie like shrink. sometimes DVD Shrink won't work so just let CloneDVD 2 do it.)

The only thing about CloneDVD is that if there is a lot of compression then u wont good as good a picture quality as u would when using DVD Shrink.
So if u like to do full disk backups i would suggest u use shrink.
But if u do movie only backup CloneDVD would give great picture quality becuz most movies dont need a lot of compression.
vwood15,
borhan9 and 300bowler both gave you excellent advice. If you do not want to spend any money and want it semi-automated then you can use Ripit4Me. It rips to HD, correct the structure problems and then uses Shrink automatically and it is free. Below is a guide one of the Member's here did for Ripit4Me
