Help! DVD Camera Video?

I bought a new digital camera and know how to work and all, but the problem is I want to transfer my video that it will do and it plays
on Nero in computer when you click on it or it plays quicktime n puter. I want to make small video to play on tv of my grandson, etc. and when I play it thru DVD Santa there is no sound. What program should I buy or what am I doing wrong. Help appreciated.....I don't know if this is the right place to put this thread.
