ok i got my orig read..if i put a game in right now without trying to put the newfirmware on will my orig games play?
cause i got the orig... put in madden07 and it worked ..does that mean i didnt do something right or do i just write over the orig?

First off, reading a firmware doesn't do anything to it but Read. You can't mess that up.
You write the firmware you want to use over the original but MAKE A BACKUP of your KEY, and your Firmware. Make like 5 copies. Any firmware flasher should make a backup of these files for you before proceeding to flash your 360. If you decide to update with a newer firmware, I'd suggest restoring your original then re-flashing with the new.
