Just installed a flip top, now ps2 doesn't read any disks?

I just installed a flip top on my Ps2 so I could play Japanese games. After I installed it, I tested it with an American game to see if it works and I installed it right. It did, so I left it alone for a couple of hours and came back to try to play Tales of Rebirth. I put in the swap disk,then it made a weird sound, I thought it reached the point where I swap disk so I did and it switched to reading my memory card, then said disk error. After that I tried a regular American game again to see if it would load that, it didn't. As of now the Playstation only loads the screen as if there was no disk at all. Just gives options to review memory card. What's happened that it stopped working when it at least played regular games just an hour ago?

check to make sure its not on too tight and the little white disc in the flip top can spin when its shut.....

Also if its too tight (I found this out personally) the fan will stop blowing in the back. If a few minutes the ps2 will shut off from overheating. Might want to keep an eye on that too.
