A Hitachi flash is easy in my eyes. All you have to do is get it into ModeB by either the connectivity kits they have, the 2 wire trick, or Slax CD. Once in modeB and in windows, either flash with OPA Extreme 7in1 2.1 or Birdy Hitachi-LG Friendly flasher 2.2 with the mediacheck2 file. Both of these autoflash your Hitachi but they make backups of all your files (key.bin, original.bin, ect..) before they begin.

mtkflash is only for use with Samsung drives. You have to get a Hitachi into mode b, but it's easy with the 2 wire trick. Flash with OPA Extreme 7in1 2.1 and it makes the back up of your firmware and flashes all automatically. Read up on Hitachi flasing.

extract all the files from opas 7in1 to the root of your c drive
if using win xp click on the start button and find the run icon (just above the log off, turn off computer buttons) click on this.
a run box will now come up, type cmd in it and press enter. A small dos box should now appear. type cd\
and press enter. you should now be at c:\>.
Type flash21.bat (Then the drive letter which the hitachi drives is given under windows, look in windows explorer for this) then any random 4 numbers.

Example 1: flash21.bat D 1234 (if hitachi is given drive letter D by windows)
Example 2: flash21.bat G 4532 (if hitachi given letter G by windows)

Remember not to leave any discs in the drive while trying to flash the drive, also if you see that their are any errors while flashing don't worry as long as it says pass/done on the last line the drive will have been flashed succesfully and you can switch of your pc and put your 360 back together.

Good Luck

Slax CD only works with certain mobos with certain SATA chipsets. Basically it won't work for most people.

Hi BabyCryer

I have recently brought a XBOX 360 and would like to hack / flash the drive so it can read backup.

Can you please write a step by step guide (as simple as you possibly can) for me as many tutorials I found seems to be very complicated to follow. If possible includes pics or photos in your guide.

I managed to open the XBOX 360 case. All I need to know is how to go about connecting it to my PC, changing the BIOS setting / RAID settings, and then flashing the actual XBOX drive.

If you could also state down what software / programs, tools, and all nessessarily equipements required to carry out this, and where to obtain these from.

Many thanks in advance

P.S. I am a computer idiot, please write in full not short hand (computer terms), better still treat me like a 5 year old child.

Hey Super, welcome first thing you need to find out is what kind of dvd drive ur 360 has (Hitachi/Samsung) because both have different methods of hacking. After you figure that out do a google searh on the latest firmware (I believe for Samsung it is extereme 3.3 and Hitachi i would go with Opa's 7 in 1). Sorry we can't give a site to locate those files but they are not that hard to find. Now once you've done all that write back and we'll help you form there. In the mean while keep doing some reading and searching because it might seem difficult at first but after a while you'll start knowing what to do. Good Luck

Hi BabyCryer

Many thanks for getting back to me.

Forgot to mentioned that I haven't actually got my XBOX 360 until this weekend as I ordered my console on the Internet. I am just doing some homework beforehand :)

I shall write back as soon I got my hand on it. I would imagine it will be the latest drive (which ever one it is)

Thanks
