Hi, I was wondering if there is anyway for me to make a copy of my WC3 CD on my hard drive. I play it alot, and I take it everywhere my laptop goes. So its getting pretty scratched up. Also if there is a way to play without a cd and not have to use cracks that would be great also.

hi

You need a program/tool that makes a cd image of the disc there are many tools on the market that do that here are a few:

blindwrite
ultraiso
alcohol 120%

These are all trial versions that have to be brought search on google one of them and download it and check it out there quite easy to use.

Thanks for the reply, I do have Al. 120% But if I make a backup of it, would it take up the full 700mb? Cause everything needed is already on the HD?

Thanks

There are a few other options.
1)Im not sure if the mini image works for wc 3 but you can try it. Rip it under secure Rom protection 3-4. When it gets to 10% cancel it. When it ask you to delete the image say no. Mount the image and see if it loads. It usually works for me but some error comes up and I just hit ok and the game loads anyway. Or you can do the full 700 mb image. I have done the mini image with games that use secure rom 7 (Company of heroes). Thats when I get the error. Try the mini first tho. If it works for securRom 7 it should work for 4.

Hi I just made the backup of WC3 using Al. 120%

But after I mount it on the virtual drive, it just asks me to verify that the CD is in there. Can I assuse that I am unable to make a backup of this?

Thank you

There is a setting in there. Its near the bottom when you go and rip it. It asked what protection the game uses. I don't have it infront of me but take a look its there.
