Yes, I'm an idiot with this stuff. I have used Smartripper to rip a movie. I have the VOB files on my hard drive. What do I do now to burn these files to a disk so I can watch the movie on a DVD player??? I've tried burning them straight to a disk but the Player (DVD+R compatable) won't open the movie. What step am I missing??? HELP, I'm about to throw my computer out the window.
If you read through the forum you would see how. Basically, you should create a folder called VIDEO_TS (caps are needed) and place the ripped DVD into that folder. You should then Use Nero or Record Now Max and select that folder as the main directory. Don't open it, just select it and add the whole folder on to a disc. Make sure you are creating a DVD Data disc though for this to work.
If it is too big to burn, you will need to compress it. Use the free program DVD Shrink (Click link) and use the tutorial i am providing to compress it.
You can actually use DVD Shrink to both rip and compress the DVD.
You are the first one to explain it so it makes sense. It actually worked (after wasting four blank DVD's yesterday). Everyone told me NOT to save it as a data disk. And no one mentioned saving the ripped files in a VIDEO_TS folder. Will this now play in a DVD home player (DVD+R compatable)??
No probs Kevin. Its hard to tell if it will play in a Standalone DVD player. It should though. Just remember, no matter what people tell you, always burn it as a data DVD but inside a VIDEO_TS folder.
