I have been using DVDFab Express for a few years now and love it.
But one day out of the blue, the DVD/RW is no longer recognized! DvdFab cannot recognize the drive.
Does anyone have any ideas, or is having this problem.

Thanks

Thanks for the response. The DVD drive is recognized by the computer. But won't play a disc! If I run a Hardware check, Windows finds the drive and says its working. I did download the new update (thanks for that) and it still asks to put in a DVD. It is a Dell Computer with a JLMS DVD Rom XJ-HD 166. Any other thoughts.

well not bieng one to give up have you checked if there is a firmware upgrade for the drive you may be able to get that at dell.com if it came with your system. Another odd chance is to disconnect it reboot then re connect it and boot back up seems odd becuz you say it wont even play a disc? How old is it?

Well being that its 2 years old it could be dead although they should last longer alot of the oem/pre-installed drives are not of the highest quality and sometimes break down. I had a similar problem with a pacific digital dvdrw that I bought over the counter seemed like as soon as the warranty went out so did the drive. I recommend replacing with a lite-on drive mine has lasted and performed very well I also have an i/o magic and it is moody. I am sure others might recomend something else but of the three brands I have tried I say lite on good luck

Thanks again for your help. I ended up dumping the drive and replacing it! I'm burning again!
