So after loosing a years worth of photos (i am prop photographer) i bought a sony drx 820u external dvd burner, bundled with Nero software. Using the incd program i tried my first disc burning session. It seemed to write to the burner then i got an error message saying Failed to write at x2.4 speed.
My guess is i am doing something basically wrong. I have never burnt a dvd in my life but i have three weeks to back up my drives before i hit the road.
It is hooked upto a sony vaio vgn-b100b with a 1.6 processor and a 1gb of ram
Please help me
thanks in advance
i am such the newbie

Forget InCD, uninstall it if you can. Packet writing software is very unreliable and not meant to be used for any critical backup needs.
You want to burn your pics as DATA.
Open Nero Express, choose DATA-> DATA disc, then 'Add' and point it to your folder or individual pics, click 'Finished' then burn. Hopefully this will work and will produce a disc readable in any computer. Also use regular DVD's, not rewritable RW's

Dump the INCD it is not worth the problems that it creats HP media is also very poor your best bet is to record the PIX onto a CDR some dvd players will play JPEGs if not they will play on your computer

@ thornton
Sorry I meant DVD's (corrected).
Just forget about InCD... period, even just having it installed can cause problems.
If you want to tranfer a few files you can use RW's (CD or DVD) burnt as DATA. But for archiving aviod RW's.

David, my problem is that i have 300gbs to back up, obviously, this is a prohibitive amount to do with cds,
What method/program do you reccomend to burn dvds to DVD-R. I didnt seem to be able to do it by drag and drop through windows, but i might try again
