HELP!! cant connect to xbox live

have tryed to connect to xbox live but it directs me to test connection and when i do it says network connection disconnected. dont know whats wrong? have rang xbox with no joy. please, have any of u got ne ideas whats wrong?

check your dns and ips
make sure on your M$ dash that these are set to AUTOMATIC
if u r on a wireless then connect the wireless adapter to a computer/home pc and see if you can connect
if you can ur good and the problem is with your xbox
if you cant call you internet service provider and ask 4 ur ip address
open a cmd prompt and ping the address if you get 4 replies something is wrong with the adapter itself
if you cant get 4 replies from the ip then you should take the ip adress and type it into the adress bar of an internet browser.
then leave the user name blank and the password should be admin
then make sure that the info on this page is the same as it is on your xbox
