Hitachi FW and tutorial for flashing

Hi Guys
Can some one guide me to a latest tutorial on flashing the hitachi 360 dvd drive.

Ive done a samsung and it worked now my other son wants it done and his drive is hitachi...

The PDF I have seems quite old and Im wanting to try the slax CD method no crossed wires etc..

I have the slax CD but what FW do I flash with and is it harder than a doing a samsung?

I had to hex edit to get mtkflash to work on my motherboard for the samsung, am I going to have to do anything like that this time with hitachi?

I just tried the slax CD and no joy!!

I can see the 360 dvd in the boot up in the PC it shows as

4th Master: HL-DJ-STDVD-ROM GDR3120L 0047

Ultra DMA Mode 5

But when windows boots up and I go looking the drive is not there and in device mananager its not there either??

HELP...

I dont want to do the crossed wires method is there something else I can do to get this working?

Just no Joy with this Hitachi 37d and the slax CD

Its odd as the 360 drive shows up in the PC bios.

How have you guys done this?
Is there something I can edit like I did with the samsung and mtkflash?
