I have a 120gb drive and when I try to format it after creating a new partition (this is the only partition) it will stop at 1%. But I can qiuck format and the drive is in blue letter's as well as files I put on it, does this affect anything

create more than 1 partition, it is recommended.

download diagnostic software from hd manufacture & run it to see what is going on. also try on another pc as i've done that a couple of times & worked.
