Playing movies on computer

I am using
Nec DVD-RW ND-3520AW
Clone DVD2 2.9.0.1
AnyDVD 6.0.6.3
To burn and play my movies in the computer and in TV with a DVD player.
This has worked very well in the past, but lately they will not play correctly in the computer, but do play fine with the player on TV.
Can you offer any help on my problem?
About the only part in Clone DVD that I will uncheck is Foreign Languages.

Laddyboy,
The last movie I tried was a Western "Yellow Sky", Gregary Peck. It started ok, but after about 15 minutes it would switch over to something with Clark Gable. That is the kind of stuff the computer will do.
Put the same copy in the DVD player and it works fine.

Auslander,
I am using 8X DVD-R RiData to burn with, if that is what you are refering to.
The copy movie was a Western "Yellow Sky"

Hi.
Is the Clark Gable movie also on the same DVD but after the Gregory Peck movie and it's just skipping to that movie?

The computer drive is apparently having a difficult time reading the disk. Ritek is OK media but not the best. Are you burning at 4X speed? It could also be your computer drive's lens is dirty. What firmware version is your burner? Have you tried a different media like Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, or made in Japan labeled Fuji or Sony.

No, not 4x but at 6x.
Do not understand "computer drive's lens is dirty".
I have upgraded the drive to "Nec DVD-RW ND-3520AW", I think the AW has something to do with the verison
Have not tried a different media, but will do so.

Hello.
That burner was used by NEC, Mad Dog, and Freecom. I've only seen it listed a NEC 3520A. I don't think there is any difference between the A and AW versions but I could be wrong.
You might try using a cd/dvd lens cleaner on the drive. They are sold wherever disks are sold. Firmware can be found here:

If the drive exhibits the same behavior over several different disks with different media, I'd surmise the drive may be at fault instead of media.

Father is law has a NEC-3520AW and I'm pretty sure the "W" stands for White since his drive is White and not black.
Why would they do this ? No idea.
And yes any NEC-3520W Firmware will load on it.
Latest official NEC Firmware for this drive is v3.07

I have this same drive and I believe mine is also listed as "AW" (I'm at work and can't check until I get home), but mine is the white one. I flashed mine to booktype using the firmware from Liggy & Dees.

This may be interesting about this Nec DVD_RW ND-3520AW drive.
I assembled this computer with parts purchased from Newegg.
Unfortunately, this drive is not supported by NEC
This drive must be in a USB or firewire enclosure or in a manufactures
system such as: Dell, Gateway or HP. Therefore, you will not find an
available firmware update or any information about your drive on the NEC
site. Please contact your system manufacture for a firmware update or
use the internet as a computing resource and perform a Google search for
firmware update and your drive model. Some firmware updates and media
list for specific drive models can be found at:

I'm pretty sure the regular NEC 3520A firmware works in the AW version. Otherwise we'd have heard from other members.
