I use DVD Shrink to read, DVD Decrypter to burn, and ANY Dvd runs in the background. I have 2 DVD players, one is a Sony 400 DVD jukebox with a HDMI output, and another Sony single DVD player. I always update the ANY Dvd when available.

Lately, some of my backups are playing back with an issue on my jukebox player only, not the single player.

WHile the movie is playing, the video cuts out while the audio keeps going fine. After a few seconds, the video comes back. This will happen periodically during the movie. It happens in the begining, the middle and the last portions of the movie.

I use Sony DVD+R discs, which up until recently have not been an issue. Any thoughts anyone?

It could be the original. If there's a glitch in the original, there'll be a glitch in the copy (hence the word, "copy" lol).

If the original was flawless, then it's gotta be the media. I know Sony DVD+R is good but it's not the best. Is it MIJ or MIT? Some people will tell you that MIT Sony is good--but I had a terrible experience with it. MIJ is the way to go (if you can find 'em).

look on the package(cake box) and it is near the bar code,

Or u can see what the MID code is if u put a blank DVD in then open decrypter in ISO/Read and u will see Manufactor ID:

this is what i was talking about these are made in Taiwan.
Some people have had success with these disks and some have not, like MR. Pink said.

also there is a new firmware update for ur burner, now this might help with burning on those disks.

Those are 16x speed Max right? What speed are u burning at?
Try 8x or 4x with them, but first try the firmware update.

I tried it again on a different DVD, I forget the name, a japanese type name that came reccomended for PS2 games, yoko or something....

Anyway, same thing. The video drops from the screen but the audio keeps going fine. Its not skipping, just the video drops out.

I will try updating the firmware. Thanks.

I am at the NEC website for instructions on updating the firmware.

There is a section that talks about the need to disable the slave drive to update the master. However, I am not seeing what I should do if the drive I want to update is the slave drive. Do I need to disable the master?

I have 2 NEC drives, a 3550 and a 2550.
