Today I burned a game on a Verbatim, and forgot to select "2-2.4x".. Instead I left it at MAX.

As soon as is started to burn, I noticed that the speed went up to almost 8x and my heart sunk.

The entire burn took 20 minutes and it averaged 7.5%, but to my surprise it worked.

I can't even work out why my drive (a Pioneer 111D) was even able to do this on a 2.4x disk, but perhaps the 'unofficial' firmware removed the burn speed limits?

I have never trusted 'over burning' disks in the past and am not about to start (especially when using Dual Layer disks), but I am surprised that it even booted.

Has anyone else had any similar experiences?

Jon

I don't believe in "burn iso at lowest speed", I've always burned my games at topspeed through the years (be it PS1/2, Dreamcast or Xbox games)and they all played fine.

Now I haven't tried burning 360 games, so it could be different ;)
Not that I'm totally stubborn, of course I do understand why people choose to burn at lower speeds, because that minimizes the risk of potential errors.

not minimizes RISK of errors.

Ok rather that start a new post I though I might just ask someone who knows, ok I'm getting into Xbox 360 burning and stuff I just need to know to things...

1, Will Verbatium DVD-R DL work in my Xbox 360?

2, when I need to create the 8GB DVDDL will using software like Dummy File Creator work if I create a dummy iso thats just over 8GB?

Thanks

I have heard good stuff about the Verbatim DVD-R DL discs before so Im pretty sure you can go ahead and use those. Not too sure about the second question though.

Big Thanks To Jamaal10!

Ok yea I phrased that question badly lol,

What I meant to say was...

When I need an 8GB image to do the swap trick to burn Xbox 360 games will using a programme like Dummy file creator work, well the answer is yes.

If anyone needs 8GB image to do the swap trick with and don't have one buy you?re DL DVD's and download dummy file creator then make a fake ISO image that?s 8148 MB it might take a while and you can't be doing anything while its doing it or it might crash.

Then burn to DL DVD in Nero and there you go you have you?re image DL to do all you?re Xbox 360 backups.
